Careers in Real Estate

What does it take to become a Realtor? This is a brief outline of the requirements for becoming a licensed Realtor.

Getting your License and Getting Started

Getting Your License - OHIO

The State of Ohio, through the Department of Commerce, requires that an applicant for a real estate salesperson's license complete four college level courses in the field of real estate. Upon successful completion of these courses, the applicant can then sit for the real estate written exam. In the event the applicant passes the exam, they will be given a real estate license. The licensee must be sponsored by and work for a licensed Ohio real estate broker.

Getting Your License - INDIANA

To obtain a Real Estate Salesperson's License in Indiana you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Complete a 54-hour State approved pre-licensing education program
  • Take and pass the approved school's three examinations with a 75% or better
  • Take and pass the Indiana State Real Estate Sales examination
  • Apply for your Indiana Real Estate Salesperson's License

Basic to a successful real estate career is the ability to get in touch with BUYERS who want to buy and SELLERS who want to sell. Both are considered "prospects", and prospects constitute the life's blood of the industry. Prospecting is the activity that relates to success. You will be encouraged and expected to participate in productive and profitable prospecting activities. We have unparalleled systems and tools to help you in the process. Additionally, your personal web page will deliver inquiries to you.
